50 Already

Happy Thursday. My husband's baby brother turned 50. His family had him a surprise birthday party this past weekend.  I wanted to make him something special. When I saw these cute "Over the Hill" birthday cakes on Pinterest I knew this is what I was wanted to make.
Using toilet paper to make the base of the cake I then wrapped
the layers with burlap and green twine.

I purchased some over the hill
items at the Dollar store to decorate the cake.

I had the "50" and some of the other colorful
decorations left over from when my husband turned 50.

I printed out two cartoons and attached them to CS.

My brother-n-law loved the cake. My sister-n-law was so funny, she told me that they use most of the stuff I attached to the cake already (laughing) Have a super great weekend.

My tea cup overflows

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I appreciate you stopping by! On my crafting table I have a large tea cup filled with misc. paper items left over from previous projects. Not wanting to throw them away they have began to overflow the tea cup.  It's shocking right? I mean who has an overflow of misc. paper items left over?  (laughing). It was time to use what I had!
The butterfly and the flower are the items I used
from my tea cup.

I made the label using scrap paper and a square punch.
Inside the card
.Hope you can spend some time crafting this week!

Sympathy Cards

Happy Thursday! How is everyone doing today?  I needed four sympathy cards this week and only had one in my stash.  I need to get busy making cards to build up my stash back up.
All the stamps are from SU. I used my Prismacolor
pencils to color in the flowers.

The butterfly was cut using a SU framelits.
 Enjoy your weekend.

Old or New storage

Happy Monday to everyone! How was your weekend? Hope you had a great one! Today I wanted to share a storage cabinet I found for my craft room.  As you know we are remodeling our home and finally finished with our upstairs. It has not been an easy task  putting my craft room back together. I  know what I want but don't want to spend the money on new storage. I saw these drawers at a yard sale and knew these would be perfect in my room.
The drawers belonged to a water bed so they are
two separate units made to lay flat with the waterbed on top.

A kitchen formica countertop would be perfect for the top.
Here they are painted, mounted and waiting for a
new top. What do you think?

I checked prices and found that formica is not cheap.
I had to come up with a cheaper idea for the top.
My husband had a door in his shed, so he cut it to fit,
sanded and painted it for me.  In the end the only cost
was for the waterbed drawers of $15.00. (smiling)

This is my craft room so far. It's still under construction (laughing)
have yet to pick colors I want to decorate with. I'll keep you updated
Thanks for stopping by. Have a super great week!

Coloring is relaxing

Happy Thursday! Last month my neighbor Heather came over to visit. She brought some craft paper and color pencils and pens with her. She was having one of those crazy weeks and asked if I would like to just color. So that's what we did. It was so relaxing and we had a great time.
This week I needed a thank you card and remembered
these flowers that we colored. I decided to use them
to make my cards.

I added some color paper and used the SU corner punch.

After we colored all the flowers we used a white pen
to add white dots. Heather did this technique in a craft
class with some of her crafting friends.  Don't you
just love it?
 Have a super great weekend!

Ahoy Matey!

Happy July Monday to you! Get your coffee or tea because today is a heavy posting. My TOPS group is having their Officer Installation this week and the theme is "A Cruise Liner".  Of course I volunteered to make the props and some kind of decorations for the ceremony.
I decorated bags and made a ship's wheel.

Using Die cuts, I made embellishments for 16 bags.

I just love the little flip flops.

We have six officers so I made six extra special bags
for each one of them.
Here is what the embellishments looked like before
I put them together.  Thanks to my neighbor
Heather, she let me borrow all her dies.

All done and ready to be glued down. I popped in a
movie and before I knew they were all done!

Each of the officers receives something to represent their
position as an officer. The Leader gets the wheel, Co-leader
receives a lifesaver, Treasurer buoy, Secretary clipboard
and the Weight recorder an anchor and whistle. I found
all the items above at the Dollar store except the ships wheel.

My creative crafting was tested with this idea for a
wheel. I came across this round piece of white styrofoam at
the Goodwell. The light bulb went off and I knew what I was
going to do. First I painted it all brown. Using a key ring, I
ran twine around foam and through the key chain creating
the ship's wheel.

I was really happy the way it came out. I could have
bought one on-line but for .99¢ how could I go wrong...hee hee
Thank you for letting me share my TOPS props. You all have a super great day!

At the Beach!

Happy Thursday! Is it hot enough for you yet? Wish I had a pool or a beach near by today. At least this card makes you think about the beach. (smiling) My neighbor Heather has been coming over to craft every other Wednesday. I make dinner and she brings the card cuttings. It's pretty sweet!
This card is done with all die cuts. Heather's sister Felicity,
designed this card and Heather just added her own touches.

It's very colorful and it was fun to put together.
Try and stay cool this weekend. Thanks for stopping by!
